LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — A pair of Big West teams seeking consistency will meet Thursday when Cal State Bakersfield visits Cal State Northridge in a nonconference men’s basketball game. The Roadrunners (4-4) arrive at the Matadome coming off their best win of the season, a 76-71 road victory at Fresno State on Sunday. Dailin Smith scored 30 points in that win, leading three Bakersfield players in double figures. The Matadors (3-4) look to halt a two-game skid after a lopsided 82-50 home loss to Idaho State last Friday. Jai Chisolm came off the bench to lead Northridge with 15 points in that defeat. Both teams have experienced similar struggles, particularly on the road. Bakersfield is 1-3 in away games, while Northridge is 0-3 in contests outside of Los Angeles. The Roadrunners have shown offensive bursts, scoring 80 or more points three times, but have also been held to 60 or fewer in four games. Thursday’s matchup serves as a final tune-up before each team begins its full Big West schedule in January. Bakersfield will host North Dakota State next Thursday, while Northridge travels to UC Irvine on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST at the Matadome.
