CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Illinois-Chicago Flames will look to get back on track when they host the struggling Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions in a nonconference men’s basketball game Wednesday afternoon at UIC Pavilion. UIC (4-3) is returning home after a 74-88 road loss to Robert Morris on Nov. 26. Andy Johnson scored 18 points in that defeat. The Flames are 3-0 at home this season, including an 84-73 win over Southern Indiana on Nov. 22. Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-8) is still seeking its first win under first-year coach Solomon Bozeman. The Golden Lions are coming off a 84-111 loss at Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 23, where Jaquan Scott posted a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. All eight of UAPB’s games have been on the road, with losses by an average margin of 27.5 points. The Flames’ offense, averaging 78.1 points per game, will test a Golden Lions defense that has allowed opponents to score 96.6 points per contest. UIC has won both prior meetings between the programs, most recently in 2019. Following this game, UIC travels to face Yale on Sunday. Arkansas-Pine Bluff continues its lengthy road stretch at DePaul on Saturday.
