CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Interstat) — The Queens Royals will look to capitalize on a favorable stretch of their schedule when they host the struggling Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs in a nonconference men’s basketball game Wednesday at Levine Center. Gardner-Webb (0-9) is one of two remaining winless teams in NCAA Division I, having lost its games by an average margin of 21.2 points. The Runnin’ Bulldogs are coming off an 88-62 loss at UNC Wilmington on Saturday. Spence Sims led Gardner-Webb with 19 points in that defeat. Queens (3-5) has faced a difficult early slate, with its last outing a 94-69 loss at Virginia on Friday. Nasir Mann scored 18 points for the Royals in that game. Queens’ victories have come against UNC Greensboro, Sacred Heart and Lynchburg. This matchup represents a chance for the Royals to build momentum before a daunting December road trip that includes games at Wake Forest, Arkansas and Auburn. For the Runnin’ Bulldogs, it is a critical opportunity to break into the win column before returning home to face Georgia Southern on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
