ATHENS, Ohio (Interstat) — Two struggling men’s basketball teams seeking a rare win will meet Wednesday when the Maine Black Bears visit the Ohio Bobcats. Maine (0-8) remains in search of its first victory after a 64-60 home loss to Siena on Sunday. Logan Carey led the Black Bears with 17 points in that contest. Maine’s winless start has featured several narrow defeats, including a four-point loss to Quinnipiac and a four-point loss at Longwood. Ohio (1-6) has lost six straight since a season-opening win over Illinois State. The Bobcats are coming off a 70-58 loss at Loyola Marymount on Nov. 25, where Aidan Hadaway paced the team with 12 points. The game at the Convocation Center offers one of the teams a chance to gain momentum before conference play begins next month. Maine will look to its top performers from the Siena game — Carey, TJ Biel (11 points, six rebounds) and Ace Flagg (seven points, six rebounds) — to break through. Ohio will counter with Hadaway and guards Jackson Paveletzke and Ajay Sheldon. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
