FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Interstat) — Northern Arizona looks to continue its strong start when it hosts South Dakota State in a nonconference men’s basketball game Wednesday at Walkup Skydome. The Lumberjacks (4-2) have won three straight, including a 79-72 home victory over Southeast Missouri State last Wednesday. Ryan Abelman led the way with 20 points. South Dakota State (4-4) seeks to snap a two-game skid after a 64-52 loss at UC Irvine last Wednesday. Trey Buchanan scored 12 points off the bench in that defeat. The Jackrabbits have been inconsistent, with a 105-point offensive outburst against Georgia State on Nov. 21 sandwiched between double-digit losses to Utah Valley and UC Irvine. Northern Arizona’s two losses came on the road against power conference opponent Arizona and a narrow defeat at Drake. This matchup begins a challenging stretch for both teams. South Dakota State faces a trip to Ball State next, while Northern Arizona visits North Dakota State and Arizona State in its next two games. Tipoff is set for Wednesday night.
