MINNEAPOLIS (Interstat) — The undefeated Indiana Hoosiers put their perfect record on the line Wednesday night in their Big Ten opener against the Minnesota Golden Gophers at Williams Arena. Indiana (7-0) has dominated its early schedule, winning each game by double digits and averaging 86.1 points. The Hoosiers are coming off a 100-56 rout of Bethune-Cookman on Saturday, where Tucker DeVries scored 20 points and Sam Alexis and Trent Sisley combined for 28 points and 17 rebounds. Minnesota (4-4) seeks consistency after dropping two of three games at the Vegas Showdown last week, including an 86-75 loss to Santa Clara on Friday. Cade Tyson led the Gophers with 29 points in that defeat. The Hoosiers have relied on balanced scoring and defense, holding opponents to 60.9 points per game. The Golden Gophers, led by Tyson’s 17.9-point average, have struggled against high-major competition, with losses to Missouri, San Francisco, Stanford and Santa Clara. Wednesday’s contest begins a critical conference stretch for both teams. Indiana visits Louisville on Saturday. Minnesota travels to Purdue next Wednesday.
