HADLEY, Mass. (Interstat) — The Harvard Crimson visit the Massachusetts Minutemen in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup on Wednesday afternoon at the Mullins Center. Harvard (5-4) arrives after a narrow 56-53 home win over Bryant on Saturday. Chandler Pigge led the Crimson with 15 points, five rebounds and five assists, while Thomas Batties added 12 points and nine rebounds. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for Harvard, which includes close road losses to Boston College and Penn State. Massachusetts (4-3) last played on Nov. 24, securing a 73-65 road win at Oregon State. Daniel Hankins-Sanford posted a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds in that victory. The Minutemen have split their last four games. The game features two teams looking to build momentum before their respective conference schedules. Harvard will rely on its balanced scoring, while UMass will look to Hankins-Sanford and forward Leonardo Bettiol, who nearly had a triple-double against Oregon State with eight points, nine rebounds and six assists. Following this contest, Harvard travels to face Furman on Saturday. Massachusetts hosts Massachusetts-Lowell the same day.
