KENT, Ohio (Interstat) — A surging Kent State looks to continue its strong start when it hosts an Austin Peay team coming off its best performance of the season on Wednesday night. The Golden Flashes (7-1) have won six straight, including a 123-59 rout of Penn St.-Shenango on Saturday. They are 5-0 at home this season at the Memorial Athletics Center. The Governors (4-3) arrive with momentum after a 77-59 victory over Northern Illinois last Tuesday. Collin Parker led the way with 30 points, while Tate McCubbin added 13 points and four assists. Austin Peay has struggled on the road, however, going 1-3 away from home with losses at Tulsa, Mississippi and Wyoming. Kent State presents their toughest road test to date. The Golden Flashes’ offense has been potent, averaging 95.1 points per game. They are led by the backcourt duo of Deandre Jones, who scored 19 points in limited minutes last game, and Cian Medley, who dished out 16 assists. This is the first meeting between the programs. Following this game, Kent State hosts Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday, while Austin Peay travels to Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Sunday.
