WORCESTER, Mass. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking consistency will meet when the Northeastern Huskies visit the Holy Cross Crusaders in a nonconference men’s basketball game Wednesday night at the Hart Recreation Center. Northeastern (3-4) arrives following an 86-73 road loss at Wake Forest last Friday. Xander Alarie led the Huskies with 15 points, six rebounds and six assists, while Miles Newton added a team-high 22 points. The Huskies have alternated wins and losses over their past five games. Holy Cross (2-6) snapped a four-game skid with a 77-53 home win over Division III Worcester St. on Nov. 26. Tyler Boston and Aidan Richard each scored 12 points in the victory, which stands as the Crusaders’ only win since their season opener. Both teams have faced challenging early schedules. The Huskies’ wins have come against Colgate, Harvard and Duquesne. The Crusaders’ two victories are against Hampton and Worcester St., having faced a gauntlet of high-major opponents like BYU, Utah and Providence. The game represents a final nonconference tune-up before each team dives deeper into its schedule. Northeastern hosts Central Connecticut on Sunday. Holy Cross travels to Fordham on Saturday.
