HAMPTON, Va. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to climb back to .500 will meet Wednesday when the Hampton Pirates host the Loyola Maryland Greyhounds in a nonconference men’s basketball game. Both teams enter the 7 p.m. EST tipoff at the Convocation Center with identical 4-5 records. Loyola Maryland arrives with momentum from a high-scoring 95-84 home victory over Coppin State on Sunday. The Greyhounds’ offense was fueled by a trio of standout performances: Jacob Theodosiou recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 assists, Emmett Adair scored a game-high 29 points and Jordan Stiemke added 21 points. The win snapped a two-game skid for Loyola, which includes a blowout loss at then-Kentucky on Nov. 21. Hampton also comes in off a decisive win, having routed the Apprentice School 94-58 at home on Monday. The Pirates have shown resilience on the road this season, securing a win at Brown, but have struggled against high-major opponents in losses to Virginia and Boston College. This matchup begins a busy December stretch for both programs before conference play intensifies in January. The Greyhounds will visit Virginia Military Institute on Dec. 9, while Hampton’s next game is against Howard on Dec. 13 as part of the HBCU Challenge in Washington.
