DENVER (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the Denver Pioneers host the Eastern Washington Eagles in nonconference men’s basketball at Magness Arena. Both programs enter with struggling records. Eastern Washington is 1-6, coming off a 79-71 overtime loss at North Texas on Nov. 25. Alton Hamilton led the Eagles with 16 points in that game. Denver sits at 2-5 and is looking to rebound from a 101-59 road loss to Wyoming on Nov. 26, where Carson Johnson scored 16 points. The Eagles have shown fight, with three of their losses coming in overtime, including a narrow 102-97 defeat at Colorado. Denver’s highlights include an 83-81 road win at Colorado State on Nov. 21. The matchup pits Eastern Washington’s offense, which has topped 90 points twice, against a Denver team allowing an average of 86.7 points per game. Wednesday’s contest is the first of a two-game homestand for Denver. Eastern Washington continues a stretch of seven straight road games to open its season.
