NEW YORK (Interstat) — A surging Columbia team hosts Hofstra in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup Wednesday night at Levien Gymnasium. The Lions (7-1) have won seven straight games since a season-opening loss at Connecticut, most recently routing Sarah Lawrence 92-44 on Saturday. Kenny Noland scored 14 points and Ryan Soulis posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win. The Pride (5-3) enter on a three-game winning streak, including a 77-60 victory at Penn on Sunday. Cruz Davis led Hofstra with 18 points in that contest. Columbia’s strong start has been fueled by its offense, averaging 86.4 points during its winning streak. Hofstra has found its rhythm after a 1-3 start, with its defense holding opponents to an average of 59 points over the last three games. This is the final tune-up for both teams before challenging weekend road games. Columbia hosts Albany on Saturday, while Hofstra visits Pittsburgh on Sunday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST.
