NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) — An unbeaten Belmont squad will put its perfect record on the line when it hosts a surging Richmond team in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup Wednesday at Curb Events Center. The Bruins (8-0) are off to their best start in years, coming off a dominant 96-73 road win at College of Charleston on Sunday. Nic McClain nearly recorded a triple-double in that victory with 12 points, nine rebounds and 11 assists. The Spiders (6-1) have won six straight since a season-opening loss, including a 71-66 road win at Charlotte on Friday. AJ Lopez led the way with 17 points in that contest. Richmond’s offense has been potent, averaging 81.4 points per game during its win streak. Belmont has been equally impressive, winning its games by an average margin of 21.6 points. This game marks the final nonconference tune-up for Belmont before it begins Missouri Valley Conference play next month. Richmond will look to secure a key road victory before returning home to face Old Dominion on Saturday.
