WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The Drexel Dragons and American Eagles, two teams looking to build momentum in nonconference play, will meet Wednesday night at Bender Arena. Drexel (4-4) enters having won two straight, including a 71-66 road victory at Morgan State on Nov. 25. Eli Beard led the Dragons with 15 points in that win. The Dragons have shown a split personality early, averaging 86.3 points in their four wins but just 65.5 in their four losses. American (5-4) is coming off a dominant 92-66 home win over Longwood on Sunday, led by Greg Jones’ 18 points and four assists. The Eagles are 4-1 at home this season, with the lone loss a narrow 59-55 defeat to Siena. The matchup features contrasting styles. Drexel will aim to control the tempo behind guards Beard and Shane Blakeney. American, which has scored 92 and 113 points in its last two home games, will rely on its balanced offense where five players average at least 9.2 points per game. This is the final tune-up for American before Patriot League play begins next month. Drexel continues a stretch of five straight road games.
