MARTIN, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks, off to a strong 5-2 start, will host the Charleston Southern Buccaneers in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup on Tuesday. The game at Skyhawk Arena pits two teams with identical overall win totals but contrasting recent schedules. The Skyhawks last played on Nov. 25, earning a comfortable 75-50 victory over Brescia. Key contributors in that win included Matas Deniusas, who scored 14 points, and Andrija Bukumirović, who added 13 points. Charleston Southern (5-4) is coming off a tougher test, falling 74-62 on the road to South Carolina this past Friday. Despite the loss, guard Brycen Blaine turned in a standout performance, pouring in 23 points to go with five rebounds and four assists. A’lahn Sumler added 14 points for the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers have shown a potent offense this season, scoring over 90 points in four of their five victories. However, they are 0-3 in true road games, with losses at Virginia Tech, Alabama A&M and South Carolina. Tennessee-Martin has found success both at home and away, including an impressive season-opening road win at UNLV. Their two losses came against power-conference opponent Florida State and Southern Mississippi. Tuesday’s contest is the final non-conference home game for the Skyhawks before they embark on a two-game road trip. Charleston Southern returns home to face Warren Wilson on Thursday.
