COLUMBIA, S.C. (Interstat) — Virginia Tech looks to rebound from its first losing streak of the season when it visits South Carolina in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup Tuesday at Colonial Life Arena. The Hokies (6-2) have dropped two straight, including an 86-68 road loss to VCU on Friday. Amani Hansberry and Tyler Johnson each scored 16 points in the defeat. South Carolina (5-2) returns home after a 74-62 victory over Charleston Southern on Friday. Elijah Strong came off the bench to score a team-high 22 points for the Gamecocks. Virginia Tech started the season 6-0 before the back-to-back losses. South Carolina has won two of its last three, with its two losses this season coming against Northwestern and Butler by a combined nine points. The game is the first of a two-game homestand for the Gamecocks before a road test at in-state rival Clemson on Dec. 16. Following this contest, the Hokies return to Blacksburg to host George Mason on Dec. 6.
