OXFORD, Miss. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to build on strong starts will meet Tuesday when the Miami Hurricanes visit the Mississippi Rebels in a nonconference men’s basketball game. The Hurricanes (6-2) are coming off a 78-65 road win against Georgetown on Friday. Tru Washington led the way with 17 points, while Malik Reneau added 23 points and two blocks. Miami’s two losses this season have come against BYU and Florida. The Rebels (5-2) are looking to bounce back after a narrow 75-74 home loss to Utah on Wednesday. Ilias Kamardine scored 15 points and Malik Dia added 17 points and three blocks in the defeat. Mississippi’s other loss was a 74-69 defeat at Iowa. The game at The Pavilion at Ole Miss will be a test of resilience for both squads before they each face a challenging slate of upcoming games. Miami begins Atlantic Coast Conference play next month, while Mississippi opens Southeastern Conference action in January. Tuesday’s contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. EST tipoff.
