BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Interstat) — Two teams riding the momentum of decisive victories will meet Tuesday when the Winthrop Eagles face the Long Island Sharks in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup at the Wellness, Recreation & Athletic Center. Winthrop (4-4) arrives in New York after a dominant 101-79 home win over South Carolina State on Saturday. The Eagles’ offense was firing, led by Kody Clouet (21 points), Tommy Kamarad (19 points) and Kareem Rozier (15 points, 6 assists). The performance was a return to form for an Eagles squad that has shown a potent offense, including a 105-point outing against Mercer, but has struggled on the road with close losses at Nebraska and Arkansas. The Sharks (4-3) are also coming off a strong road performance, having defeated Missouri State 75-61 on Nov. 24. Malachi Davis paced Long Island with 18 points, while Greg Gordon and Jamal Fuller added 13 and 14 points, respectively. Long Island has been inconsistent, sandwiching a 98-58 loss at Illinois between wins over Missouri State and a home victory against James Madison. Both teams enter the contest with identical aspirations: securing a winning record before diving deeper into their respective schedules. The Eagles will look to carry their hot-shooting momentum from their last game north, while the Sharks aim to defend their home court and build a winning streak. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
