LAWRENCE, Kan. (Interstat) — A top-tier nonconference showdown is set for Tuesday night as the Connecticut Huskies visit Allen Fieldhouse to face the Kansas Jayhawks. The Huskies (6-1) enter on a hot streak, having won four straight since their lone loss to then-Arizona. They are coming off a dominant 74-61 victory over then-Illinois on Friday. In that win, Alex Karaban nearly recorded a triple-double with 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists, while Malachi Smith dished out nine assists. Kansas (6-2) also brings momentum from a ranked win, having defeated then-Tennessee 81-76 on the road last Wednesday. Elmarko Jackson and Melvin Council each scored 17 points to lead the Jayhawks, who have won three consecutive games after back-to-back road losses at Duke and North Carolina earlier in November. This matchup pits UConn’s balanced, efficient offense against a Kansas squad that has proven resilient away from home. The Huskies’ only blemish was a narrow four-point loss to a ranked Wildcats team. The Jayhawks’ two defeats came against then-Duke and then-North Carolina. The game at a sold-out Allen Fieldhouse provides a major test for both teams before they dive deeper into their respective schedules. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CST.
