CLASH OF 10-WIN POWERS SET FOR DAVIS DAVIS, Calif. (Interstat) — A compelling postseason matchup between two of the nation’s most potent offenses will unfold Saturday when the Illinois State Redbirds visit the UC Davis Aggies at UC Davis Health Stadium. Kickoff is set for Dec. 13, 2025, pitting two teams with identical aspirations and nearly identical records. Illinois State (10-4) arrives fresh off a dramatic 29-28 road victory over North Dakota State last Saturday. UC Davis (10-3) enters riding a wave of offensive firepower after a 47-26 win over Rhode Island. The game features a marquee quarterback duel. Illinois State’s Tommy Rittenhouse is a dual-threat catalyst. In the win over North Dakota State, he passed for 249 yards and three touchdowns while adding 24 yards on the ground. Over his last four games, Rittenhouse has accounted for 10 total touchdowns. He will be matched by UC Davis dynamo Caden Pinnick, who is coming off a historic performance. Against Rhode Island, Pinnick passed for 277 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 99 yards on 15 carries. In his last three outings, he has accounted for nine touchdowns. The Redbirds’ offense is bolstered by running back Victor Dawson, who rushed for 137 yards and a score last week. The Aggies’ attack is multidimensional, with running back Jordan Fisher complementing Pinnick after a 140-yard rushing effort. Defensively, both teams face a stern test. Illinois State has shown volatility, allowing 37 points in a loss to Southern Illinois on Nov. 22 before its resilient performance last week. UC Davis surrendered 38 points in a loss to Montana State on Nov. 15 but has since tightened up, allowing an average of 27 points in its two subsequent wins. The Aggies hold the home-field advantage and a slight edge in the season win percentage. According to National Statistical’s game simulator, UC Davis is projected to win 39-29.
