BOZEMAN, Mont. (Interstat) — A clash of top-tier FCS programs highlights Saturday’s playoff slate as the Montana State Bobcats host the Yale Bulldogs at Bobcat Stadium. Montana State (10-2), champion of the Big Sky Conference, enters on an eight-game winning streak. The Bobcats’ last outing was a 31-28 victory over rival Montana on Nov. 22, fueled by a balanced attack. Quarterback Justin Lamson was efficient, completing 18 of 20 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown while adding 80 rushing yards and another score. Running back Julius Davis rushed for 106 yards. Yale (9-2), the Ivy League champion, arrives fresh off a dramatic 43-42 road win at Youngstown State last Saturday. The Bulldogs leaned on a powerful ground game, with Josh Pitsenberger rushing for 209 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Dante Reno threw for 260 yards and three scores. The game features a contrast in momentum. Montana State has dominated since late September, winning by an average of 32 points during its streak. Yale has won five straight, but its last three victories have been by a combined 11 points, showcasing a knack for close finishes. National Statistical’s game simulator projects a narrow Yale victory, 27-26. The winner will advance to the FCS quarterfinals. The matchup marks the first-ever meeting between the schools. Kickoff is Saturday at Bobcat Stadium.
