ATLANTA (Interstat) — The Southeastern Conference championship and a likely College Football Playoff berth will be on the line Saturday when Georgia faces Alabama at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Bulldogs (11-1), ranked third in the latest CFP standings, enter as the visiting team against the sixth-ranked Crimson Tide (10-2) in a rematch of their Sept. 27 meeting, which Alabama won 24-21 in Athens. Georgia has since won seven straight, including a 16-9 victory over Georgia Tech last Friday powered by running backs Nate Frazier (108 yards rushing) and Josh McCray. Alabama arrives with momentum after a 27-20 road win over rival Auburn last Saturday. Quarterback Ty Simpson accounted for three touchdowns in that victory. National Statistical’s game simulator projects an Alabama win, 26-17. The Crimson Tide have been installed as a 2.5-point favorite, with an over/under of 48.5 points. The winner will claim the SEC title and strengthen its case for a playoff spot. For Georgia, it’s a chance at revenge and a return to the playoff after a narrow regular-season loss to the Tide. For Alabama, it represents an opportunity to secure its first conference championship since 2021 and continue its late-season surge.
