Preview: Struggling Grizzlies Face Surging Rockets in Regular Season Finale HOUSTON (Interstat) — The Houston Rockets, riding a wave of momentum into the postseason, will host the lottery-bound Memphis Grizzlies in the regular season finale for both teams on Sunday at Toyota Center. The Rockets (51-29) have secured a playoff berth and are tuning up for a deep run, having won eight of their last 10 games. Their most recent victory was a 113-102 decision over Philadelphia on Thursday. Future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant continues to be the engine for Houston, averaging 26.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.8 assists over his last 10 contests. He posted 25 points, six rebounds and 10 assists in a 119-109 win over Memphis just over two weeks ago on March 27. Conversely, the Grizzlies (25-55) limp into the finale having lost nine of their last 10, including a 136-119 defeat in Denver on Wednesday. Their season has been defined by youth and development, with rookie forward Cedric Coward emerging as a bright spot. Coward is coming off a career-high 27-point performance against the Nuggets and has scored in double figures in nine of his last 10 games, providing a glimpse of Memphis’s future. Houston has dominated the season series, winning all three prior meetings. In addition to the March victory, the Rockets won 108-99 in Houston on Jan. 26 and 124-109 in Memphis on Nov. 5. For the Rockets, the focus will be on maintaining rhythm and health before the playoffs begin. For the Grizzlies, the game represents a final opportunity for their young core, led by Coward, to gain experience against elite competition. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. CDT Sunday.
