Preview: Struggling Nets Face Playoff-Bound Raptors in Toronto TORONTO (Interstat) ā The Toronto Raptors look to solidify their playoff positioning when they host the lowly Brooklyn Nets on Sunday at Scotiabank Arena. The Raptors (45-36) enter the regular seasonās final week holding the Eastern Conferenceās No. 7 seed. They have won four of their last six games but are coming off a 112-95 road loss to the New York Knicks on Friday. Forward Sandro Mamukelashvili has been a consistent contributor, averaging 13.7 points and 6.1 rebounds over his last 10 games. He had 17 points and eight rebounds in the loss to New York. The Nets (20-61) own the leagueās worst record and have lost eight of their last 10. They fell 125-108 in Milwaukee on Friday despite a near triple-double from guard Malachi Smith, who finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists. Smithās role has expanded recently, logging 40-plus minutes in two of the last three games while averaging 13.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.7 assists in that stretch. Toronto has won two of three meetings against Brooklyn this season, splitting a pair of November games before the Nets earned a 96-81 home win on Dec. 21. The Raptors have been strong at home, going 26-14 at Scotiabank Arena this season, while the Nets are a league-worst 6-34 on the road. For Toronto, securing a victory is crucial to avoid the play-in tournamentās lower seeds. Brooklyn, long eliminated from postseason contention, is evaluating young talent like Smith and forward Jalen Wilson, who had 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists against Milwaukee. The game tips off at 6 p.m. EDT Sunday.
