CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Interstat) — The surging New York Knicks, holding firm in the Eastern Conference playoff race, visit the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday night in a matchup featuring two of the league’s hottest stars. The Knicks (48-26) arrive at Spectrum Center having won eight of their last 10 games, including a 145-113 rout of Washington last Sunday. They currently sit second in the East. Charlotte (37-34), winners of seven of its last 10, is fighting to secure a play-in tournament spot, sitting eighth in the conference. A marquee individual duel will be at the center of this contest. Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns enters on a dominant run, averaging a double-double with 22.1 points and 13.6 rebounds over his last 10 games. He is coming off a 26-point, 16-rebound performance against the Wizards. He will be countered by Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball, who is averaging 21.6 points and 5.9 assists in that same span. Ball scored 29 points in just 29 minutes in Charlotte’s most recent outing, a 124-101 victory over Memphis last Saturday. New York has dominated the season series, winning the two previous meetings by an average of 21.5 points. The Knicks won 119-104 in New York on Dec. 3, 2025, after a 129-101 victory in Charlotte on Nov. 26, 2025. The Knicks’ recent success has been fueled by high-octane offense, scoring 134 points or more in four of their last six wins. Charlotte has shown a similar explosive capability, posting 124 points or more in three of its last four victories. For New York, maintaining its defensive intensity against Ball’s creative playmaking will be key. For the Hornets, finding an answer for Towns’ interior dominance and containing New York’s transition game are paramount tasks. This game is the first of a home-and-home set between the teams, who will meet again at Madison Square Garden on April 12. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT at Spectrum Center.
