CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Interstat) — The Charlotte Hornets, firmly in the Eastern Conference playoff chase, will look to continue their recent surge when they host the struggling Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night at Spectrum Center. The Hornets (37-34) have won seven of their last 10 games, including a dominant 124-101 victory over Memphis on Saturday. All-Star guard LaMelo Ball has been instrumental, averaging 22.6 points and 6.3 assists in his last 10 contests. He scored 30 points in Charlotte’s 117-109 win in Sacramento on March 11. Sacramento (18-53) owns the league’s worst record and is coming off a 139-118 home loss to Philadelphia on Thursday. Rookie center Maxime Raynaud was a bright spot in that defeat, scoring 30 points. He has been a consistent performer, posting six double-doubles in his last 10 games and averaging 19.1 points and 9.2 rebounds over that stretch. The Kings have shown sporadic fight, with recent wins over Utah, the Los Angeles Clippers, Indiana and Chicago this month. Containing Ball and the Hornets’ offense, which has topped 130 points three times in March, will be their primary challenge. Charlotte won the season’s first meeting two weeks ago behind Ball’s 30 points and six rebounds. The Hornets shot 48.9% from the field and outscored the Kings 36-25 in the decisive fourth quarter. Following this game, the Hornets begin a tough stretch hosting New York, Philadelphia and Boston. The Kings continue a six-game road trip in Orlando on Thursday.
