MIAMI (Interstat) — The surging Miami Heat will look to continue their push up the Eastern Conference standings when they host the struggling Washington Wizards on Tuesday night at FTX Arena. Miami (35-29) has won four straight games and six of its last eight, powered by the elite play of guard Tyler Herro. In his last three outings, Herro is averaging 27.3 points, 7.7 assists and 5.3 rebounds. He is coming off a near triple-double with 35 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in Friday’s 128-120 road win over Charlotte. The Heat dominated the Wizards in their only previous meeting this season, a 132-101 victory in Washington on Feb. 8. Washington (16-46) arrives in South Florida mired in a five-game losing streak and owning the worst record in the East. The Wizards are allowing an average of 124.2 points during the skid. They fell 122-112 to Utah on Thursday despite a massive performance from forward Julian Reese, who had 18 points and 20 rebounds. Reese has been a bright spot, averaging 13.5 points and 14.0 rebounds over his last two games. Guard Bilal Coulibaly, who scored 17 points against the Jazz, will also be relied upon for offensive production. The Heat, currently positioned for the play-in tournament, are beginning a critical two-game homestand before embarking on a four-game road trip. After facing the Wizards, they host the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday. Washington continues a three-game road trip that next stops in Orlando on Thursday. The Wizards’ challenging schedule continues with games against Boston, Golden State and Oklahoma City in the coming weeks. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. EDT.
