MIAMI (Interstat) — The Miami Heat look to solidify their playoff positioning when they host the struggling Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night at FTX Arena. The Heat (32-29) enter the contest having won three of their last four, most recently a 115-105 home victory over Houston on Saturday. Miami currently sits seventh in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn (15-45) owns the worst record in the East and has lost seven of its last eight games. The Nets are coming off a 106-102 home loss to Cleveland on Sunday. In their previous meeting this season, the Heat defeated the Nets 106-95 in Brooklyn on Dec. 18. A key matchup will feature Miami’s All-Star center Bam Adebayo against Brooklyn’s emerging forward Danny Wolf. Adebayo is averaging 20.5 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists over his last 10 games, including a 24-point, 11-rebound performance against the Rockets. Wolf has been a bright spot for the Nets during their difficult season. The forward is coming off a career-high 23 points, along with nine rebounds and five assists, in the loss to Cleveland. Over his last five games, Wolf is averaging 15.6 points and 5.0 rebounds. For Miami, rookie center Kel’el Ware has provided a boost, posting a double-double (13 points, 15 rebounds) in the win over Houston. Guard Pelle Larsson added 20 points. The Nets have struggled defensively, allowing an average of 117.8 points during their 1-7 skid. They will face a Miami team averaging 118.7 points over its last 10 contests. Miami will be without guard Tyler Herro (foot) and forward Haywood Highsmith (back). Brooklyn lists guard Ben Simmons (back) and forward Trendon Watford (ankle) as out. Following Tuesday’s game, the teams will meet again in Miami on Thursday. The Heat then begin a two-game road trip at Charlotte on Friday. The Nets continue a four-game road swing at Detroit on Saturday.
