Preview: Struggling Kings, Mavericks Meet in Dallas DALLAS (Interstat) — Two teams near the bottom of the Western Conference standings look to build on rare wins when the Sacramento Kings visit the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night at American Airlines Center. The Kings (13-46) snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 123-114 road victory over Memphis on Monday. Precious Achiuwa led the way with 22 points and 12 rebounds, continuing a strong stretch for the forward. Over his last three games, Achiuwa is averaging 16.7 points and 8.3 rebounds in 29.3 minutes per contest. Sacramento will need similar production as it opens a two-game Texas trip. The Kings have lost 14 of their last 16 games overall. Dallas (21-36) also enters with momentum after a 123-114 win at Brooklyn on Tuesday, which ended a three-game skid. Forward Naji Marshall powered the Mavericks with 21 points, seven assists and five rebounds. He has scored 17 or more points in four of his last six outings, including a 31-point performance against Phoenix on Feb. 10. The season series is tied 1-1. The Kings won 113-107 at home on Dec. 27, but the Mavericks answered with a 100-98 victory in Sacramento on Jan. 6. Both teams rank near the bottom of the league in defensive rating, suggesting another high-scoring affair could be in store. The Kings have allowed 122.1 points per game during their 2-14 stretch since Jan. 29, while the Mavericks have surrendered an average of 122.8 points in their last five contests. For Sacramento, veteran guard Russell Westbrook is coming off a 25-point, seven-assist effort against Memphis. Dallas will counter with a backcourt of Brandon Williams, who had 19 points and 10 assists against Brooklyn, and Tim Hardaway Jr. The game is the first of a back-to-back for Dallas, which hosts Memphis on Friday. Sacramento continues its trip Sunday at the Los Angeles Lakers.
