Preview: Knicks, Cavaliers Clash in Key Eastern Conference Matchup CLEVELAND (Interstat) — Two of the Eastern Conference’s top teams will meet Tuesday night when the New York Knicks visit the Cleveland Cavaliers at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. The matchup features a tight battle in the standings, with the visiting Knicks (37-21) holding a narrow one-game lead over the Cavaliers (36-22). Both teams are looking to build momentum for the postseason push. New York arrives after a narrow 108-106 home victory over Houston on Saturday, led by 25 points from Karl-Anthony Towns. The Knicks have won eight of their last 11 games but are coming off a 126-111 loss to Detroit on Feb. 19. Cleveland seeks to rebound from a 121-113 road loss to Oklahoma City on Sunday. Prior to that, the Cavaliers had won five straight games, including impressive victories over Denver and Sacramento. A key matchup will feature New York’s Karl-Anthony Towns against Cleveland’s playmaking guard, James Harden. Towns has been a force, recording nine double-doubles in his last 10 games, including a 20-rebound performance against Portland on Jan. 30. Over that stretch, he is averaging 17.7 points and 13.4 rebounds. Harden has fueled Cleveland’s offense, averaging 18.7 points and 8.7 assists over his last six contests. He posted a 22-point, 10-rebound, 7-assist, 4-block stat line in a win over Denver on Feb. 9. The season series currently favors New York. The Knicks won both prior meetings, a 119-111 victory on Oct. 22 and a 126-124 win on Christmas Day. Following Tuesday’s game, Cleveland will travel to face Milwaukee on Wednesday. New York’s next game is at Milwaukee on Friday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
