Preview: Mavericks, Nets Meet in Brooklyn Amid Struggling Seasons BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Interstat) — Two of the NBA’s struggling teams will meet Tuesday night when the Dallas Mavericks visit the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center. The Mavericks (19-36) and Nets (15-41) enter on extended losing streaks, with Dallas having dropped eight consecutive games and Brooklyn losing four straight and 10 of its last 11. Both teams are near the bottom of their respective conferences. Dallas will look to break its skid behind forward-center Marvin Bagley, who is coming off a 15-point, 13-rebound performance in a 122-111 loss at Minnesota on Feb. 20. Over his last four games, Bagley is averaging 11.8 points and 9.3 rebounds. He will be matched inside by Brooklyn’s Nicolas Claxton, who has been a bright spot during the Nets’ difficult season. Claxton is averaging 12.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists over his last 10 contests, including a 28-point, 10-rebound outing in a win over Chicago on Feb. 9. The Mavericks have won both meetings between the teams this season, a 119-111 victory on Dec. 12 and a 113-105 win on Jan. 12. Dallas’s recent slide includes losses on its current road trip to the Lakers, Suns, Spurs and Timberwolves. Brooklyn is returning home after a winless three-game road trip, most recently falling 115-104 in Atlanta on Sunday where Claxton had 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Following Tuesday’s game, Dallas will return home to host Sacramento on Thursday. Brooklyn will remain at home to face San Antonio on Thursday.
