SAN FRANCISCO (Interstat) — The Denver Nuggets, looking to stabilize after a recent skid, visit the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center on Sunday in a Western Conference matchup. Denver (35-21) arrives after a difficult 115-114 road loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday, a game in which Nikola Jokic posted 22 points, 17 rebounds and six assists. Despite that performance, the Nuggets have lost five of their last eight games. Jokic remains the focal point, averaging a triple-double over his last five contests, including a 22-point, 17-assist, 14-rebound effort in a win over Chicago on Feb. 7. The Warriors (29-27) have also struggled for consistency, dropping four of their last five, including a 121-110 home loss to Boston on Thursday. Golden State has relied on the emergence of forward Gui Santos, who is coming off a 17-point, six-rebound performance against the Celtics and has scored in double figures in seven of his last eight games. The season series is split 1-1. The Warriors won a high-scoring affair 137-131 at home on Oct. 23, but the Nuggets responded with a decisive 129-104 victory in Denver on Nov. 7. Denver’s offense, powered by Jokic’s all-around genius, will test a Golden State defense that has allowed an average of 114.2 points over its last five games. The Warriors will need efficient scoring beyond Santos to keep pace, as the Nuggets rank among the league’s top offensive units. Sunday’s contest is the final game for both teams before the All-Star break, adding urgency to secure a positive result. For Denver, it’s a chance to solidify its top-four standing in the West. For Golden State, it’s an opportunity to climb back to .500 and gain momentum for the final stretch. The game tips off at 5:30 p.m. PST at Chase Center.
