SAN ANTONIO (Interstat) ā The surging San Antonio Spurs, owners of the Western Conferenceās second-best record, will host the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night at Frost Bank Center in a matchup of teams trending in opposite directions. The Spurs (38-17) enter on a five-game winning streak, having averaged 129.2 points during that dominant stretch. They have won eight of their last 10 games overall. Meanwhile, the Suns (32-23) have lost four of their last six, including a 136-109 home defeat to Oklahoma City in their most recent outing on Wednesday. All eyes will be on San Antonioās superstar Victor Wembanyama, who has been a force of nature. Over his last 10 games, the 7-foot-4 forward is averaging 24.6 points, 11.8 rebounds and 3.1 blocks, including a 40-point, 12-rebound performance against the Los Angeles Lakers last week. His two-way dominance has anchored the Spursā ascent. Phoenix will counter with the hot hand of Dillon Brooks. The veteran forward has scored 22 or more points in seven of his last 10 contests, averaging 24.5 points over that span. He poured in 40 points against Detroit on Jan. 29 and is coming off a 23-point effort in the loss to the Thunder. The season series currently favors Phoenix, which won both prior meetings in November. The Suns took a 130-118 victory on Nov. 2 and a 111-102 win on Nov. 23. However, both of those games were in Phoenix, and the Spursā form has dramatically improved since that early-season stretch. San Antonio has been installed as a 6.5-point favorite by FanDuel Sportsbook, with the over/under set at 225.5 points. The game is the start of a critical two-game homestand for the Spurs before a five-game road trip. Phoenix continues a tough stretch of its schedule, with games against Orlando, Portland and Boston awaiting after this Texas stop. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST.
