INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Interstat) — The Denver Nuggets, led by a historic stretch from Nikola Jokic, visit the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night in a Western Conference matchup at Intuit Dome. The Nuggets (35-20) enter as the clear favorite, installed at -3.5, and have won two of their last three. Their success continues to flow through the two-time MVP Jokic, who is averaging a triple-double over his last seven games: 24.4 points, 13.6 rebounds and 10.0 assists. He posted triple-doubles in four of those contests, including a 26-point, 15-rebound, 11-assist performance in a 122-116 win over Memphis last Wednesday. Denver defeated the Clippers 122-109 in their most recent meeting on Jan. 30, a game in which Jokic scored 31 points in just 25 minutes. The Clippers (26-28) look to build momentum after a 105-102 road victory over Houston last Wednesday snapped a two-game skid. Kawhi Leonard has been on a scoring tear, averaging 28.2 points over his last nine games. He recorded 41 points in a win at Minnesota on Feb. 8 and followed with 27 points and 12 rebounds against the Rockets. Los Angeles has struggled for consistency, however, alternating wins and losses in its last five games. Defense has been an issue, allowing an average of 119.2 points in those contests. The Nuggets have won the last two head-to-head meetings, including a 130-116 victory in Los Angeles on Nov. 12. The over/under for Thursday’s game is set at 225.5 points. For Denver, guard Jamal Murray is coming off a 23-point, 7-assist game against Memphis. The Clippers will need a strong performance from Leonard and support from guards like Kris Dunn, who had 16 points and six assists against Houston. The game kicks off a challenging back-to-back for both teams. Denver travels to Portland on Friday, while the Clippers face the Lakers across town.
