Preview: Timberwolves at Grizzlies MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Interstat) — The surging Minnesota Timberwolves will look to continue their climb in the Western Conference standings when they visit the struggling Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night at FedExForum. Minnesota (30-19) enters on a three-game winning streak, most recently defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 123-111 on Thursday. The Timberwolves have won five of their last seven games overall. Memphis (18-28) has lost five of its last six, including a 114-106 defeat at New Orleans on Friday. The matchup features a contrast in momentum and a marquee individual duel between All-Star guard Anthony Edwards of Minnesota and versatile big man Jaren Jackson Jr. of Memphis. Edwards has been a consistent force for the Timberwolves, averaging 26.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists over his last 10 games. He is coming off a 26-point, five-rebound, five-assist performance in the win over Oklahoma City. His explosive scoring ability, highlighted by a 58-point outing against San Antonio on Jan. 17, will be a primary focus for the Grizzlies’ defense. Jackson has anchored Memphis during a difficult stretch, averaging 19.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks over the same 10-game span. He recorded 26 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in a narrow loss to New Orleans on Jan. 23, showcasing his two-way impact. The teams have split two meetings this season. Memphis earned a 116-110 road win on Dec. 17, while a scheduled game in Memphis on Jan. 31 was postponed. The Timberwolves will aim to leverage their recent defensive form, having held opponents under 112 points in each game during their current win streak. For the Grizzlies, reversing their fortunes will require improved consistency beyond Jackson. Rookie guard Cam Spencer, who scored 16 points off the bench Friday, is among the players who will need to provide supplemental offense. Minnesota holds a significant advantage in the standings, but Memphis has proven capable, having beaten the Timberwolves once already this season. The game tips off at 7 p.m. CST Monday.
