Preview: Kings at Wizards, Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026 WASHINGTON (Interstat) — Two of the NBA’s struggling teams meet Sunday when the Sacramento Kings visit the Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena, each seeking a rare positive result in a season defined by losses. The Kings (12-37) and Wizards (12-34) enter with identical .245 winning percentages, though Washington arrives with slightly more momentum. The Wizards are coming off a 109-99 home victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday, powered by a dominant 16-point, 17-rebound performance from rookie center Alex Sarr. Sarr has been a bright spot, averaging a double-double over his last 10 games and posting a 29-point, 12-rebound, 6-block stat line in a win over Portland on Jan. 27. His rim protection and activity will be central against a Sacramento squad that prevailed 128-115 when these teams met in California on Jan. 16. Sacramento has lost seven straight since that victory, including a narrow 113-111 defeat in Philadelphia on Thursday. Veteran guard DeMar DeRozan led the Kings with 25 points and eight assists in that contest, continuing a stretch of high-volume scoring. Over his last 10 games, DeRozan is averaging 21.7 points, though the team has gone 3-7 in that span. The Kings’ defense has been a persistent issue, allowing an average of 120.1 points during their current skid. They will need to contain Sarr and limit second-chance opportunities to have a chance on the road. For Washington, consistency remains elusive. The win over Milwaukee snapped a three-game losing streak, but prior to that, they had dropped eight of nine. The Wizards will look to build on their recent defensive effort after holding the Bucks under 100 points. The matchup pits Sacramento’s experienced backcourt, led by DeRozan and Dennis Schroder (27 points vs. Philadelphia), against Washington’s youthful core featuring Sarr and recent contributors like Kyshawn George, who had 23 points and five assists against the Bucks. Sunday’s contest represents one of the more winnable games on either schedule, with both clubs mired at the bottom of their respective conferences. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. EST. Projected Starters: Kings: G DeMar DeRozan, G Dennis Schroder, F Harrison Barnes, F Precious Achiuwa, C Domantas Sabonis. Wizards: G Tyus Jones, G Bilal Coulibaly, F Kyshawn George, F Kyle Kuzma, C Alex Sarr. Injury Report: Both teams will release injury reports Saturday evening.
