Preview: Trail Blazers at Celtics BOSTON (Interstat) — The surging Portland Trail Blazers, winners of seven of their last 10, face a stiff road test against the Boston Celtics at TD Garden on Monday night. Portland (23-23) arrives at .500 after a 127-110 home win over Miami on Thursday, but followed it with a 110-98 loss to Toronto on Friday. The Celtics (28-17) look to rebound after a narrow 114-111 road loss to Chicago on Saturday, which snapped a two-game win streak. The matchup features two of the league’s hottest players. For Portland, second-year center Donovan Clingan has been a force, averaging a double-double over his last 10 games. He is coming off a 13-point, 16-rebound performance against the Raptors and posted 21 points and 17 rebounds in a win over Sacramento on Jan. 18. Boston’s offense runs through All-Star Jaylen Brown, who is averaging 29.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists over his last 10 contests. Brown recorded a triple-double (27 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists) in a win over Brooklyn on Jan. 23 and scored 41 points against Atlanta on Jan. 17. The teams last met on Dec. 28 in Portland, where the Trail Blazers secured a 114-108 victory. The Celtics will aim to defend their home court this time, where they are 16-7 this season. Portland is 9-14 on the road. Portland’s recent success has been fueled by balanced scoring and Clingan’s interior dominance, while Boston relies heavily on Brown’s prolific output and the supporting play of Anfernee Simons and Derrick White. The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. EST Monday. Portland continues a four-game road trip Tuesday in Washington. Boston hosts Atlanta on Wednesday.
