Preview: Magic Look to Avenge Recent Loss as They Visit Cavaliers CLEVELAND (Interstat) — The Orlando Magic seek immediate redemption when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night, just two days after suffering a decisive home loss to the same opponent. The Cavaliers (27-20) defeated the Magic (23-21) 119-105 on Saturday in Orlando, led by a dominant 36-point, nine-assist performance from All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell. Cleveland has won seven of its last 10 games to solidify its position in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. Orlando, hovering around .500, has lost three of its last four and will need a sharper defensive effort to slow Mitchell, who is averaging 28.9 points and 7.8 assists over his last 10 contests. In the Saturday matchup, the Cavaliers shot 51.2% from the field and connected on 16 3-pointers. The Magic will again rely on forward Paolo Banchero, who scored 27 points in the loss. Banchero has been a consistent force, averaging 23.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists over his last 10 games, including a 30-point, 14-rebound effort in a win over Washington on Jan. 6. For Cleveland, Mitchell’s backcourt partner Jaylon Tyson added 17 points in Saturday’s win, while Dean Wade provided 10 points and two blocks off the bench. The Cavaliers have been strong at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse this season, boasting a 17-7 home record. The quick turnaround favors Orlando’s chance for adjustment, but they must solve a Cleveland defense that forced 16 turnovers and held them to 43.9% shooting on Saturday. The Magic’s recent road record adds to the challenge, as they have dropped four of their last five games away from home. Monday’s contest is the second of three meetings between the teams this season, with the finale scheduled for March 22 in Orlando. Following this game, Cleveland begins a challenging five-game road trip out West, while Orlando continues a stretch of road games with a visit to Miami on Wednesday.
