MINNEAPOLIS (Interstat) — The Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves will complete a rare regular-season back-to-back Monday night at Target Center, just over 24 hours after the Warriors dominated the first meeting. Golden State (26-21) arrives with momentum after a convincing 111-85 road victory over the Timberwolves on Sunday. Stephen Curry led the way with 26 points and seven assists in 28 minutes. The Warriors have won seven of their last 10 games but remain inconsistent on the road. Minnesota (27-19) will be desperate to halt a four-game losing streak and avoid a season sweep of this two-game home set. Despite Anthony Edwards’ 32-point, 11-rebound effort Sunday, the Timberwolves’ offense sputtered, shooting just 38% from the field. Curry enters averaging 24.8 points and 7.1 assists over his last 10 games, including a 38-point outing against Toronto last week. His playmaking will be critical against Minnesota’s perimeter defense. Edwards has been a bright spot during the skid, averaging 31.6 points over his last five contests. He erupted for 58 points in a loss to San Antonio on Jan. 11, demonstrating his explosive scoring capability. How he responds after a inefficient 10-for-27 shooting performance Sunday will be key. The Timberwolves won the prior meeting this season, 127-120 in San Francisco on Dec. 12, behind 35 points from Edwards. Minnesota holds a slight edge in the Western Conference standings, making this a consequential game for playoff positioning. Golden State’s bench, led by Moses Moody’s 19 points Sunday, provided a significant lift. Minnesota will need more from its supporting cast after Donte DiVincenzo (22 points) was the only other Timberwolf to score more than 11 in the loss. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CST. The Warriors travel to Utah on Wednesday, while the Timberwolves begin a road trip in Dallas.
