PORTLAND, Ore. (Interstat) — A surging Toronto Raptors squad riding a potent offense will face a Portland Trail Blazers team finding its footing at home in a cross-conference NBA matchup Friday night at Moda Center. The Raptors (27-19) arrive having won two straight and seven of their last 11, averaging 122.4 points over that stretch. Their most recent outing was a 122-109 road victory over Sacramento on Wednesday, powered by 23 points from Scottie Barnes. Barnes is the engine for Toronto, entering Friday on a stellar run. Over his last 10 games, the versatile forward has averaged 22.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 7.0 assists, including a 26-point, 11-assist performance in a 145-127 win at Golden State on Tuesday. His playmaking will be central against Portland’s defense. The Trail Blazers (22-22) have won three consecutive games and seven of their last nine to reach .500. They last played Sunday, defeating Sacramento 117-110. Center Donovan Clingan dominated inside with 21 points and 17 rebounds, highlighting his recent emergence. Over his last 10 contests, the second-year big man has averaged 13.0 points and 12.3 rebounds, providing Portland with a consistent interior force. This is the second meeting of the season. Toronto won the first matchup 121-118 at home on Dec. 2. The game features a contrast in momentum. Toronto has been strong on the road lately, while Portland is 4-1 in its last five at Moda Center. Containing Barnes will be a primary challenge for a Blazers defense that has improved during its recent homestand. Conversely, Toronto must account for Clingan’s rebounding and the scoring of Deni Avdija and Shaedon Sharpe, who combined for 57 points in Portland’s last win. Following this game, Toronto continues a road trip at Oklahoma City on Sunday. Portland embarks on a four-game East Coast trip starting Monday in Boston.
