Slumping Pacers Face 76ers in Martin Luther King Jr. Day Showdown PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The struggling Indiana Pacers, buoyed by a rare winning streak, visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday afternoon at Xfinity Mobile Arena in the NBA’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day slate. The Pacers (10-32) have shown flickers of life, winning three of their last five games, including a 127-119 victory over New Orleans on Friday. Their recent success has coincided with the strong play of center Jay Huff. Over his last 10 games, Huff is averaging 13.6 points and 3.8 rebounds, highlighted by a 29-point, 9-rebound performance against the Pelicans. Philadelphia (22-18), however, presents a steep challenge as it looks to rebound from a narrow 117-115 home loss to Cleveland on Friday. The 76ers are led by perennial All-Star Joel Embiid, who remains a dominant force. Embiid is averaging 27.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists over his last 10 contests, including a 33-point outing in the loss to the Cavaliers. The teams last met on Dec. 12, with Philadelphia securing a 115-105 home victory. The 76ers’ star duo of Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, who had 22 points and nine assists Friday, will test an Indiana defense that ranks near the bottom of the league. For Indiana, sustaining momentum will require another significant effort from Huff and forward Pascal Siakam, who scored 27 points against New Orleans. The Pacers’ recent uptick offers a glimmer of hope, but they face a 76ers squad eager to stabilize its playoff positioning in the Eastern Conference before embarking on a lengthy road trip later this month. Monday’s holiday matinee tips off at 1 p.m. EST. Following the game, the 76ers will host Phoenix on Tuesday, while the Pacers travel to face Boston on Wednesday.
