Preview: Bucks at Nuggets DENVER (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Bucks, seeking stability amid an uneven season, face a steep challenge against the Western Conference-contending Denver Nuggets on Sunday at Ball Arena. The Bucks (16-21) arrive after a 113-120 road loss to Golden State on Wednesday, their fourth defeat in the last six games. Despite the team’s struggles, two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo remains a dominant force. He is averaging 31.2 points and 9.7 rebounds over his last six games, including a 34-point, 10-rebound performance against the Warriors. Milwaukee’s defense, however, has been inconsistent, allowing an average of 114.8 points per game this season. The Nuggets (25-12) enter on a high note after a statement 114-110 victory in Boston on Wednesday. Guard Jamal Murray orchestrated that win with a near triple-double of 22 points, 8 rebounds and 17 assists. Over his last 10 games, Murray has been prolific, averaging 25.7 points and 10.6 assists, showcasing his elite playmaking alongside his scoring. Denver’s offense, powered by Murray’s recent facilitation, ranks among the league’s most efficient. The team has won seven of its last ten and holds a formidable home record. This matchup pits Antetokounmpo’s relentless interior attack against a disciplined Nuggets defense. Milwaukee will need secondary scoring from guards Kevin Porter Jr. and Ryan Rollins, who combined for 31 points in the loss to Golden State, to complement their star. For Denver, containing Antetokounmpo will be a collective effort, while Murray looks to exploit a Bucks defense that ranks in the bottom third of the league. The teams will meet again in Milwaukee on Jan. 23. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. MST Sunday.
