Preview: Bulls at Pistons DETROIT (Interstat) — The surging Detroit Pistons, owners of the Eastern Conference’s second-best record, will host the inconsistent Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night at Little Caesars Arena. The Pistons (26-9) have won seven of their last 10 games and are coming off a 114-110 road victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. All-Star guard Cade Cunningham leads the charge, averaging 26.1 points and 10.1 assists over his last 10 contests. In the teams’ most recent meeting, a 124-113 Detroit win on Nov. 12, Cunningham posted 31 points and 12 assists. Chicago (17-18) looks to rebound from a 112-99 home loss to Charlotte last Saturday. The Bulls have alternated wins and losses over their last six games. Veteran center Nikola Vucevic has been a bright spot, recording a near triple-double with 28 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in that defeat. He is averaging 18.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists over his last 10 games. The season series is split 1-1, with each team winning on its home floor. Chicago claimed the first matchup 115-111 on Oct. 22. Detroit’s success has been built on both ends of the floor, ranking in the top five in both offensive rating and defensive rating. The Bulls, hovering near .500, will need a significant defensive effort to contain Cunningham’s playmaking and find consistent scoring beyond Vucevic to pull off the road upset. Wednesday’s contest is the first of a back-to-back for Chicago, which hosts Miami on Thursday. Detroit’s next game is at home against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.
