Preview: Rockets Look to Continue Dominance Over Struggling Kings SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Interstat) — The Houston Rockets, riding a potent offense led by Kevin Durant, visit the struggling Sacramento Kings on Sunday at Golden 1 Center. Houston (16-8) enters having lost two straight high-scoring road games but remains firmly among the Western Conference’s top teams. They dominated the Kings (6-21) just over two weeks ago in a 121-95 rout on Dec. 3. Durant was instrumental in that win, posting 24 points and eight assists in 32 minutes. The future Hall of Famer has been on a tear, averaging 26.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists over his last eight games. He is coming off a 32-point, seven-rebound, four-block effort in Thursday’s 133-128 loss at New Orleans, where Alperen Sengun added 28 points and 11 rebounds. Sacramento seeks to halt a four-game skid and find consistency during a difficult season. The Kings are coming off a crushing 134-133 overtime loss at Portland on Thursday, despite a 29-point, 11-rebound performance from rookie center Maxime Raynaud and 33 points from DeMar DeRozan. Raynaud, a player to watch for the Kings, had 25 points and six rebounds in the earlier loss to Houston. He has provided a bright spot, averaging 16.0 points and 8.1 rebounds over his last seven contests. The Rockets’ offense, which averages 120.3 points per game, will test a Sacramento defense allowing a league-worst 124.1 points per game. Houston’s recent losses have come in shootouts, falling 133-128 to New Orleans and 128-125 to Denver. Russell Westbrook, who had 20 points and 10 assists against Portland, will be key for Sacramento in generating pace against a Houston team that prefers to run. This is the second of three scheduled meetings this season. The teams will meet again in Sacramento on Jan. 11. For Houston, the game begins a challenging three-game road trip that continues with games against the Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers on Christmas Day. Sacramento hosts Detroit on Tuesday before a rematch with Dallas next Saturday.
