Preview: Raptors Look to Extend Winning Streak Against Struggling Nets BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Interstat) — The surging Toronto Raptors will visit the struggling Brooklyn Nets on Sunday at Barclays Center in a matchup of teams on opposite trajectories. Toronto (17-11) enters on a two-game winning streak after a 111-105 road victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday. Forward Scottie Barnes led the way with 24 points and 11 rebounds, continuing an All-Star caliber stretch. Over his last 10 games, Barnes is averaging 20.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists. The Raptors have dominated the season series, winning both prior meetings by a 119-109 scoreline on Nov. 11 in Brooklyn and Nov. 23 in Toronto. Brooklyn (7-19) has lost three of its last four, including a 106-95 home loss to Miami on Thursday. Center Nicolas Claxton posted 16 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in that defeat, showcasing his versatile skill set. Claxton has six double-doubles in his last 10 contests. The Nets’ season has been defined by inconsistency. A stunning 127-82 blowout of Milwaukee on Dec. 14 was followed by a loss to Dallas two days later. They rank near the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Toronto, meanwhile, sits firmly in the playoff picture and has found recent success despite a challenging schedule. Barnes, alongside forwards Brandon Ingram and Sandro Mamukelashvili, provides a formidable frontcourt that will test Brooklyn’s interior defense, anchored by Claxton. The Raptors are installed as 4-point favorites, with the over/under set at 220.5 points. For Toronto, the game begins a stretch of four road contests in six days, with a visit to Miami slated for Tuesday. Brooklyn opens a two-game trip in Philadelphia on Tuesday before a four-game homestand to begin the new year.
