Preview: Pelicans at Bulls CHICAGO (Interstat) — Two struggling teams seeking a rare win will meet Sunday when the New Orleans Pelicans visit the Chicago Bulls at United Center. The Pelicans (4-22) arrive with the worst record in the NBA but are coming off one of their few bright spots, a 143-120 victory over Portland on Thursday. The Bulls (9-14) have lost five straight, most recently a 123-91 blowout at home to Golden State on Dec. 7. New Orleans forward Trey Murphy enters in strong individual form, averaging 24.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists over his last 10 games. He scored 20 points in the Pelicans’ 143-130 home win over Chicago on Nov. 24. Bulls guard Josh Giddey has been a consistent triple-double threat amid the team’s slide, posting averages of 18.7 points, 8.6 rebounds and 7.8 assists in his last 10 contests. He recorded 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the November loss to New Orleans. The Pelicans’ win over the Bulls three weeks ago was a high-scoring affair, indicative of both teams’ defensive struggles this season. New Orleans allows a league-worst 126.2 points per game, while Chicago ranks 28th in defensive rating. Chicago will look to break its skid and protect its home court, where it is 5-7 this season. New Orleans, 2-11 on the road, aims to build momentum from its offensive explosion against Portland. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST.
