Preview: Trail Blazers at Grizzlies MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to climb out of early-season stagnation will meet Sunday when the Portland Trail Blazers visit the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum. Both teams enter the contest with identical 9-13 records, sitting outside the Western Conference playoff picture. The matchup features a compelling duel between two of the league’s most productive young players in Portland’s Deni Avdija and Memphis’ Zach Edey. The Trail Blazers are coming off a 122-110 road win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. Avdija has been on a remarkable tear, averaging 27.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 8.1 assists over his last 10 games. He posted a triple-double with 31 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists in a loss to Oklahoma City on Nov. 30 and followed with 37 points against San Antonio. His playmaking and scoring have been the engine for Portland’s offense. Memphis last played on Tuesday, falling 126-119 at San Antonio. The Grizzlies have shown flashes, winning four of five games from Nov. 20-28 before the recent loss. Their success is often tied to the dominance of center Zach Edey, who has recorded a double-double in eight of his last 10 outings. He is averaging 16.0 points and 13.7 rebounds per game in that stretch, including a 32-point, 17-rebound, 5-block performance in a win over Sacramento. Portland’s recent form has been inconsistent, going 3-7 in its last 10 games despite Avdija’s heroics. Support from Shaedon Sharpe and Toumani Camara, who combined for 37 points in the win over Cleveland, will be crucial. The Grizzlies have found balance beyond Edey, with guards like Cam Spencer and Vincent Williams Jr. providing scoring and playmaking. Spencer scored 21 points in the loss to the Spurs. This game represents a key opportunity for both clubs to gain momentum before difficult December schedules. Portland begins a four-game homestand after this contest, while Memphis embarks on a four-game road trip following a home game against Utah next Friday. Tip-off is set for Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025.
