Preview: Hawks at Wizards, Saturday, December 6, 2025 WASHINGTON (Interstat) — A surging Atlanta Hawks guard looks to continue his hot streak against a struggling Washington Wizards team when the Eastern Conference foes meet Saturday night at Capital One Arena. The Hawks (13-10) arrive after a 115-92 home loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, which snapped a two-game win streak. The Wizards (3-18) are reeling from a 146-101 blowout loss to Boston on Thursday, their 12th defeat in 13 games. All eyes will be on Atlanta’s Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who has been a dynamic scoring force. Over his last 10 games, he is averaging 24.9 points, including a 38-point, 7-assist performance against San Antonio on Nov. 20 and a 34-point, 8-rebound, 7-assist outing in a win over Philadelphia on Nov. 30. He was held to just eight points in the Hawks’ last meeting with Washington. The Wizards will counter with veteran guard C.J. McCollum, who torched Atlanta for 46 points in a 132-113 Washington victory on Nov. 25. In that game, the Wizards shot 56.8% from the field and dominated the second half. McCollum is coming off a 22-point effort against Boston but has been inconsistent during the team’s prolonged slump. Washington’s win over Atlanta last month stands as a rare bright spot in a dismal season. Since that victory, the Wizards have lost five of six, with their only win a 129-126 upset of Milwaukee. Their defense ranks among the league’s worst, allowing an average of 124.3 points per game. Atlanta, despite its recent loss, has shown a potent offense, scoring 140-plus points twice in its last five contests. The Hawks will aim to tighten their defense after allowing the Clippers to shoot 52.9% from the field. The matchup pits one of the East’s playoff contenders against its cellar-dweller, but the recent head-to-head result provides Washington a blueprint for an upset. For Atlanta, containing McCollum and avenging the November loss are immediate priorities as they continue a challenging stretch of schedule. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST.
