DETROIT (Interstat) — The surging Detroit Pistons, owners of one of the NBA’s best records at 17-5, host the struggling Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night at Little Caesars Arena. The Pistons look to bounce back from a narrow 113-109 road loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. Cade Cunningham led Detroit in that game with 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Despite the loss, Detroit has won seven of its last 10 games. Portland (9-13) arrives after snapping a three-game skid with a 122-110 win in Cleveland on Wednesday. Deni Avdija paced the Trail Blazers with 27 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in that victory, while Shaedon Sharpe added 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists. The matchup features a stark contrast in early-season trajectories. The Pistons have established themselves among the Eastern Conference’s top tier, while the Trail Blazers have lost eight of their last 12 contests. This game is the first of a home-and-home set between the teams. They will meet again in Portland on Monday, Dec. 22. The Pistons host Milwaukee again on Saturday. Portland continues a six-game road trip at Memphis on Sunday.
