HOUSTON (Interstat) — The surging Houston Rockets will look to extend their strong start when they host the struggling Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night at Toyota Center. The Rockets (13-4) enter with one of the NBA’s best records, fueled by a powerful offense. They are coming off a dominant 129-101 road win over Utah on Sunday, where Kevin Durant scored 25 points and Alperen Sengun added 27. Houston has won four of its last five games. Conversely, the Kings (5-16) are mired near the bottom of the standings. They fell 115-107 at home to Memphis on Sunday despite 21 points from Malik Monk and 23 from DeMar DeRozan. Sacramento has lost three straight and eight of its last ten games, with defensive struggles being a consistent theme. This is the first meeting between the teams this season. The Kings will begin a six-game road trip with this contest, while the Rockets open a brief two-game homestand before hitting the road again. Sacramento’s upcoming schedule remains daunting, with games at Miami and Indiana to follow. Houston will host Phoenix on Friday before a nationally televised matchup at Dallas. The teams will meet again in Sacramento on Dec. 21.
